Book Pricing
We are here to help you establish a price point that aligns with your objectives. You decide the retail price of your book and we will take you through all the options to consider.
Book distribution cost: How you choose to print and sell your book will determine the cost.
Consideration 1 is your representative. This can be an agent, a publisher, a consultant, or, if you are experienced, self-publish.
Consideration 2 is production costs. This is the expense of producing copies of your book. From formatting to printing. This includes paper weight and stock, type of cover, such as perfect bound or case laminate, and what formats, such as Kindle and Epub.
Consideration 3 is distribution costs: This is the discount you will offer retailers to carry and profit from selling your book. It varies from one retailer to another and from one format to another. Many retailers want a 55% discount, but they will accept lower discounts.
Consideration 4 is book returns. When books do not sell, there are strategies on how you can deal with the unsold volumes. Returns and handling the credits, and shipping can be a financial burden.
Consideration 5 is the marketing costs. Your hard costs to advertise and promote your book need to be included in your sales price based on expected sales.
Consideration 6 is the value of your time and creativity that went into writing the book. This should be #1 but in actuality, this is further down the list because as a first-time author, usually the focus is publishing and selling your book.
